This is a biography writing unit about the famous English writer and author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in Year 5 or Year 6 learning about famous authors or one of his famous books. When downloaded this resource includes a printable version of the activity and a PDF with a link that allows you to copy the Google Slides document and save it in your Google Drive. The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided. This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Slides, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets or computers. However, the resource also comes in a PDF format, which can be printed. Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the Gmail account where you wish to store the activity. The resources are ideal for a homework activity, a reading group activity, guided reading, homework, exam/test preparation etc. The activity has a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. A biography writing unit about the life of famous civil rights activist, Martin Luther King. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion.
